Visual Arts Workshop in Prison

• Every week, since 2013, I have facilitated an art workshop in a men’s prison. 

• I bring light, love, and creativity to men who might feel like they have been forgotten about by the outside world.

• I create an uplifting, welcoming, space for everyone to connect, let their guard down, and have fun.

• Witnessing the laughter, transformation, and vulnerability in the darkness of a prison, has shown me how powerful the act of creating together can be.

 

Healing Art Group in Residential Treatment Center

• I lead a bi-weekly art group centered on healing and recovery from addiction to a local treatment center.

• Encouraging the clients to enjoy the process and let go of the outcome are guiding factors as we create together.

 

Art Space at the Family Empowerment Program

• I was entrusted to launch the first ever art program for Ypsilanti Housing Commission residents living in permanent supportive housing.

• Focusing on creating a sense of community and connection, we learn about art and create together during our bi-weekly art groups. 

• The intention of this new art program is to help the residents grow as artists and build a stronger community.

Art & Mindfulness Workshop for Washtenaw F.A.N. (Face Addiction Now)

• Created and facilitated the first art workshop for the Washtenaw County branch of Face Addiction Now (formerly Families Against Narcotics). 

• Hosted an evening of creativity, reflection, and connection through meditation, art, and reflection.
